How to give your child a Montessori life and Why you should !
Many people have heard of Montessori and often the main thing they believe is that Montessori gives a lot of freedom to children.
Most people who know more about Montessori , quite often see it as a method of teaching. One that works wonderfully for young children, to give them the best start in their school lives. But, to really see the results of a Montessori education – The principles of Montessori should be brought into the home and become a natural part of daily life. Bringing Montessori into your home means bringing Montessori into your life. Even if your child doesn’t attend a Montessori School – The benefits and rewards of adopting the principles in your home life are still powerful and meaningful for you and your child.
Purchasing or creating the well-known Montessori materials and creating an aesthetically pleasing prepared environment in the home can have great benefits – But without practicing and incorporating the five principles of the Montessori method into your everyday life, having the equipment and environment will have little to no effect.
Always Remember – it’s not what they do (i.e. play with Montessori toys, go to Phonics and reading classes, do lots of homework ) – It’s how they do things – (with control, discipline, respect, thought and enthusiasm) that will benefit them most.
Montessori builds on positive, achievable goals and activities which lead children forward at their own pace and interest. It is a child-directed learning method and should be mainly based around observation. One of the biggest difficulties for parents is to ensure they find the right balance between independence and supervision.
Let’s look at 5 main Montessori principles in next post, we as parents should use in our daily interactions.
